2015 Fall Newsletter
First a recap…
Our Antiquefest weekend was good success despite the weather and power outage. Our vendors were extremely pleased with the attendance and the plaza was busy on Saturday and Sunday. We hosted our very first Pork Fest on Saturday August 22nd. It was such a success that several of our vendors ran out of food, more than once. It is an event we hope to continue in 2016.
You will be receiving a survey in the next few days asking you about the events and beautification portions of our budget. Your input is important to us as we begin to our budget process for the 2016 season. Please fill out and return the survey’s to me. I will be delivering them to our members and they will be available on our website.
Now on to our next event…
We are celebrating the Season of Pumpkin People here at the plaza and you will see some interesting characters popping up around the Plaza. Please feel free to participate with your own take on the Pumpkin People theme. We will have free popcorn and also Sausage on a Bun, Hot Chocolate and Pizza Slices will be sold in front of the clock tower. We are inviting our retail businesses to participate in the fall sidewalk sale on Saturday October 3rd from 10:00am till 3pm., and invite you ALL to participate in the Fall Window Decorating Contest. Pumpkin People are the theme, judging to take place October 23rd. 1st, 2nd,& 3rd prizes awarded.
I remind you that we continue to promote the Shift 10 program whereby we encourage consumers to shift 10% of their purchases to local businesses. Part of this initiative is to educate the public about how much local businesses give back to their communities. We will begin to run advertisements in The Leader newspaper again in October listing the many organizations and charities that our businesses support. The message is: “this support is possible because you shopped local” I know how generous our businesses are so please help me spread the word by sending me the information about who you donated to so we can include your business in our Ad. I will have new posters and window clings shortly to distribute.
As the Holiday Season approaches we will be participating in the S. D. Chamber of Commerce 1st Annual Fall/Winter Trade Show on Sunday November 8th at the Morrisburg Legion. This is a great opportunity to showcase your business. Please let me know how I can showcase your business at the Morrisburg DBIA booth. The annual Santa Claus Parade is Saturday December 5th and will be passing through the plaza. We are currently working on some ideas to encourage people to stay and shop after the parade.
